Hola a todos,
ELA
- Our sounds of the week are: ou/ow, au/aw, and oi/oy.
- We are starting to right about our weekend, every Monday we will write in our journal what we did on the weekend. "On the weekend I... "
- We are practicing segmenting and blending (sounding out sounds then putting them all together) of CVC words (consonant vowel consonant) and using those words in our writing.
SLA
- We are starting to write our own sentences in Spanish to express our likes and dislikes. "A mi me gusta... A mi no me gusta" (I like... I do not like...)
- We are practicing having conversations with our classmates only in Spanish. We created 4 new flashcards for our mochila.
- ¿Como te sientes? (How do you feel?)
- ¿Que tiempo hace hoy? (What is the weather like today?)
- ¿Cual es tu color favorito? (What is your favourite colour?)
- ¿Cual es tu fruta favorita? (What is your favourite fruit?)
Math
- We are starting our "Graphs and Data" unit. We have been using tallies to gather data about our classmates such as their favourite foods and using that data to make a bar graph. We will be working on pictographs later this week.
- Have your child gather data from family members such as favourite sports, foods, etc. Ask them "How many liked ____?" to have your child explain their data.
- Continue practicing skip counting by 2's, 5's, and 10's as well as counting from 1-100 front and backwards.
Science
- This week we are learning all about "Seasonal Changes", researching the seasons and why we have them. We learned that in the Ojibwe calendar there are 5 seasons instead of 4!
- With your child talk about what are some things you see in Fall that you might not see in other seasons? Why do they think that is?
- We are still working on "All About My City" and will start creating a poster this week. We will be presenting our "All About My School" and "All About My City" next week.
