English
- Sight words of the week: write, go, see, number, no, way
- Reading: this week we are reading books with 'vcc' (vowel consonant consonant) and 'cvcc' (consonant vowel consonant consonant) words. Here is an example of these words so that you can practice at home:
Spanish
- Our initial sounds of the week are: ñ, v and ll.
- Reading: We are reading books with the 'r' sound. RR = hard r sound, R = soft r sound.
- Writing: We are using our vocabulary of winter to write about our favourite things to do in winter. We are using known vocabulary such as 'a mi me gusta/a mi no me gusta' to explain what we like and don't like.
Math
- We continue in our addition and subtraction unit. We are creating our own addition/subtraction problems in Spanish and showing different strategies to solve the problem.
- We have been enjoying 'Math Stations' to independently practice our math skills. We have been practicing skills such as: adding/subtraction facts, skip counting, shapes and patterns and practicing Math vocabulary with the teacher.
Science
- We went on a winter walk and had a discussion about what we saw, heard, felt, and smelt (we couldn't taste anything because it is outside!).
Social Studies
- We are exploring The Seven Sacred Teachings in Indigenous culture. We are learning about the Eagle and it's teaching of Love. We are exploring how we show love to others and to the world around us.
