  • Reading: This week are reading books with the phonic code:
  • Writing: This week we are editing journal prompts that we have written from the past month using C.O.P.S. Parents will be able to see their kids writing during our celebration of learning! Below are the prompts that will be included.

Spanish

  • We continue in our winter unit. We are exploring the way different cultures spend their time in winter.
  • Our initial sounds of the week are: ñ, v and ll.
  • Reading: We are reading books with the initial sounds 't' (ta, te, ti, to, tu) and 'd' (da, de, di, do, du).
  • Writing: We are writing about our "Muñeco de Invierno" (winter doll) and using our vocabulary of winter clothes to describe what he wears during winter time. Below is a writing example.

Math

  • We continue in our addition and subtraction unit. We are creating our own addition/subtraction problems in Spanish and showing different strategies to solve the problem.
  • We have been enjoying 'Math Stations' to independently practice our math skills. We have been practicing skills such as: adding/subtraction facts, skip counting, shapes and patterns and practicing Math vocabulary with the teacher.

Social Studies

  • We are starting our "Family Traditions" unit. We will be discussing our traditions and share these with our classmates in a Talking Circle. We will explore what traditions mean and why these are important.
Science
  • We have been having discussions regarding current events such as earthquakes and hurricanes. We are using our knowledge on seasonal cycles to talk about how the seasons affect certain parts of the earth. We continue to explore our 5 senses and their importance regarding these seasonal changes (ex. our current weather, please stay warm out there!).
