Viernes 21 de octubre

Hola a todos,

We had a fun week! Swimming has been awesome! We have all been a little more tired in the afternoon, but so excited to get to go swimming every day! Next week we have swimming on Monday Oct 24 and Tuesday Oct 25.

Spanish:

  • Our sounds of the week are: M,P, S, L
  • We learned all about fall (otoño) and the seasons in Spanish, specifically the colours we see in the fall. We talked about warm and cool colours from Science in Spanish.
  • For Art this week, we created a chameleon using our knowledge of colours from Science:

"El Camaleón de Colores" based on "The Mixed Up Chameleon" by Eric Carle

ELAL:

  • Our sounds of the week: l, r, u, s
  • Our sight words of the week: they, I, at, be, this, have
  • We played 'Roll a Sight Word' to practice our sight words of the week. We are starting to write sentences using our sight words!
  • We read the books "Red is Best", "The Cool Bean" and "Stick and Stone" that focus on being a good friend to others.

Math:

  • We continued learning all about patterns and creating our own 'fall patterns' with leafs!
  • Practice counting with your child by 5's from 5-100.
  • Practice counting with your child by 2's from 2-20.
  • Use this website to count with your child, use the colour option to colour in the number they count out loud: https://www.mathplayground.com/interactive_hundreds_chart.html
  • Use ABCya and play grade 1 counting math games at home.

Science:

  • We investigated warm and cool colours from the colour wheel. Today, we did an experiment called 'Walking Rainbow'. What would happen if colours mix together using water and food colouring?
  • Here are some pictures of the experiment:

Social Studies:

  • We have been talking about respect and living a healthy lifestyle in our community. How is taking care of our minds and body respect? How did indigenous people respect the body of the buffalo?
